They always say "Expect the un-expected", and our St George's Day celebrations have certainly proved that to be true.
At the end of last year, plans were being put into place to organise and arrange the details for our St George's Day parade that would be taking place on the 25th April 2020, little did we know that we would be unable to see these plans through and that we would be unable to gather to renew our promises in Southwell Minster.
With face-to-face Scouting activities suspended until further notice, our District Team got straight to work to try and find a solution which would ensure that our members would still be able to renew their Promises as they would have done in the Minster. After some extensive testing, the District team were able to host an Online Promise renewal, through our Facebook Page.
The District were thrilled to team up with Girlguiding Nottinghamshire, to ensure members of Girlguiding would be able to renew their promises as they would have done if we were in Southwell, and encouraged members to join no matter where they were.
The stream saw over 200 members of Scouting and Girlguiding come together to renew their promise, and following the conclusion of the live stream, has since been viewed over 1,200 times.
If you were unable to join us for the live stream, we have uploaded a recording which can be viewed by clicking here.
Thank you to everyone who participated, we hope you enjoyed being able to renew your promise with us this year. We look forward to seeing you all soon, and hopefully we will be able to celebrate St George's Day in the usual manner next year.
