During January, 1st Farnsfield Beavers have been getting ready to explore the stars, planets and beyond by doing their Space activity badge. With the current lockdown measures Scouting is not able to meet face-to-face but this hasn’t stopped the Beavers, who are aged 6 to 8, from meeting virtually each week.
Over three weeks they’ve been doing their Space activity badge in a simple virtual session mixed in with some fun games. The session can be the only time they meet their friends with schools currently closed. In week 1 they learnt about the different planets in our solar system by building a planet mobile they could hang from their bedroom ceilings, week 2 was understanding about constellations and the final week has seen them make their own rocket to transport them to infinity and beyond.
Across the all of 1st Farnsfield Scout Group all sections have been meeting each week with over 100 members of the group participating in some of our Scouting activities or silly games. The Cub sections (age 8 to 10) have been enjoying virtual evenings with sessions on wellbeing, space and even making their own djembe drums. Both Scout sections (aged 10 to 14) have been on a cooking frenzy during January by enjoying a Swedish Fika evening and most recently designing and making their own cake.
Farnsfield Beavers, Cubs and Scouts meet weekly during term time. If you would like to find out more visit 1stfarnsfield.org.uk/join
