Since the 16th March, Scouts across the District haven't met due to COVID-19, however some have been meeting online to provide a vital lifeline for those young people who may be feeling isolated.
1st Farnsfield have been one of the Groups doing just that. Over May Bank Holiday weekend they took the, now regular online meetings, to a whole new level! As Scout Martha reports below:
Dancing Scout Leader Wow's Crowd
On the 9th and 10th of May 2020, 1st Farnsfield Scout Group had an EPIC virtual camp with campfire songs, sugary treats and fun stay-at-home activities! We first started off the camp with a welcoming zoom meeting and everybody holding up some greetings signs. It was great to see all my friends and familiar faces! It was also really comforting to talk and have a chat with the leaders.
We then started building our own den inside or outside. Then we made some cool catapults with a rubber band, some string and some pencils! We then logged off to have our tea, and logged back on with cakes in a mug and campfire songs! We sung all the classics. Then we had the options of sleeping in our dens, beds or tents!
It was a fun night. We then woke up at 10:30am for our leaving ceremony. BUT! That’s not all! Some of our leaders had a mini dance class with the macarena, baby shark and some great workout music! It was comedy gold to see our Group Scout Leader, Chris, dancing to baby shark! THEN, it was time to say goodbye.
Just as we logged off, everyone got to see the longest necker throw (we hope) starring the virtual campers!! (1stfarnsfield.org.uk/neckerchallenge) We all had so much fun and would love to do it again. Thank you for reading!
